The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake comes to Nintendo Switch 2 on Thursday, November 5, for $59.99 in the U.S. Days before release, a video of the game’s license menu has raised a question Nintendo’s product page leaves open. Will the remake use Nvidia’s DLSS? The footage names two other graphics technologies, including AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution 1.0. Nintendo’s U.S. listing · License menu screenshots

Does the Ocarina of Time remake use DLSS?

As of November 2, Nintendo has yet to say. In a clip posted by SuperMetalDave64, the version 1.0.0 license menu lists AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 1.0 and SMAA. DLSS does not appear in the footage. The notices identify software credited in that build, but they do not show where it runs, whether the game uses it in both handheld and docked modes, or what a launch patch might change. FSR 1.0 works from one rendered frame at a time, using edge information to scale the image up. SMAA is an anti-aliasing technique that smooths jagged edges. Nvidia’s DLSS Super Resolution can draw on information across frames to reconstruct a higher-resolution image. Switch 2 supports DLSS, but each game’s developers choose which techniques to use. What players will actually notice is how steadily fine detail holds up in motion, especially on grass, foliage and distant scenery. That depends on the whole rendering pipeline. Nintendo lists HDR and variable refresh rate support with compatible equipment, but the store specifications leave internal resolution and frame-rate targets unanswered. What Nintendo rebuilt for Switch 2

The 1998 Nintendo 64 adventure gets updated movement and camera controls, fully voiced cutscenes, expanded dialogue and an orchestral score. In a November 2 developer interview, Nintendo explained one choice that should feel familiar to returning players. Kokiri Forest and Hyrule Field still occupy separate maps. That preserved the rhythm of leaving the woods and entering a wide-open space, even as the team added more detail within each area. Nintendo’s developer interview · Nintendo of America’s trailer

The remake is exclusive to Switch 2 and supports TV, tabletop and handheld play. Nintendo estimates the digital download at 27 GB. U.S. release and download details
