Jacksonville built a 28-0 halftime lead, pairing efficient quarterback play with a productive run game and disruptive defense.

The Jacksonville Jaguars beat the Indianapolis Colts 42-7 on Sunday at EverBank Stadium, taking control before halftime and widening their advantage in the AFC South. Trevor Lawrence threw three touchdown passes, and Bhayshul Tuten delivered his most prominent contribution of the afternoon with scores as both a runner and receiver.

The Jaguars' game report put Jacksonville at 5-2 and Indianapolis at 2-6. The Colts have lost four consecutive games.

The first half removes the suspense

Lawrence threw touchdown passes to Brian Thomas Jr. and Nate Boerkircher before Tuten broke a 39-yard touchdown run. Safety Rayuan Lane added a 92-yard interception return for a touchdown with 10 seconds left in the half, sending Jacksonville into the break up 28-0.

The Colts' account identified how costly the sequence around that interception became. Indianapolis had just forced and recovered a Lawrence fumble, creating a chance to improve a difficult half. Instead, Daniel Jones' pass went through Tyler Warren's reach and into Lane's hands.

A possession that might have limited the damage produced another Jacksonville touchdown. That was a more consequential swing than the final margin alone can convey.

Jacksonville gets efficiency and balance

Lawrence completed 10 of 14 passes for 210 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions before leaving early in the fourth quarter. Tuten ran for 104 yards on 16 carries and added a touchdown reception. Jacksonville finished with a season-high 183 rushing yards, according to the club.

The defense supplied four sacks and three takeaways. Indianapolis struggled to create a counterweight: Jones passed for 144 yards, with one touchdown and two interceptions, while Jonathan Taylor managed 23 rushing yards on eight attempts.

That balance explains why the Jaguars could keep extending the lead without needing high passing volume. Their offense was efficient, their run game provided another threat and the defense kept interrupting the Colts' attempts to respond.

A division gap grows

Jacksonville's report said the victory extended its AFC South lead to three games over the idle Houston Texans. Indianapolis, meanwhile, leaves with the pressure of another loss and several areas requiring attention at once.

The 42-7 result was decisive because the Jaguars controlled the phases that feed one another: field position, possession-changing plays and finishing drives. It is a substantial division win, with the next challenge arriving on a short week against Baltimore. Follow Taken Social's Sports section for more coverage.
