Boston won in Orlando despite a difficult shooting start, finding enough at the foul line and in the closing quarter to move to 5-1.
The Boston Celtics beat the Orlando Magic 108-97 on Sunday, November 1, earning their fifth consecutive victory. Jayson Tatum scored 32 points and Paul George added 17 as Boston improved to 5-1 and Orlando fell to 2-4.

The NBA's official game recap confirmed the result and updated records. The win came through a less direct route than an early burst of accurate three-point shooting.
Tatum supplies a steady scoring route
CelticsBlog's report credited Tatum with 15 made free throws on 17 attempts and seven assists. Boston had opened 1 for 15 from three-point range, but still reached halftime ahead 55-50.
That combination is the useful starting point for understanding the result. The Celtics could keep adding points while their perimeter shooting was unreliable, and their first-half ball security helped prevent the missed shots from becoming an overwhelming disadvantage.
The box score provides the statistical record behind the finish. A shooting percentage alone cannot explain the points created at the foul line, the possessions preserved or the plays made after an opponent's run.
Orlando makes Boston answer again
Tristan da Silva and Anthony Black each scored 23 points, according to CelticsBlog. Orlando produced a 12-0 third-quarter run and tied the game at 72 before Boston carried a narrow advantage into the fourth.
The Magic were playing without Paolo Banchero and Jalen Suggs. The players available still created a competitive second half, forcing the Celtics to protect a lead that had already been challenged rather than simply coast on it.
Tatum's late jumpers and a George three-pointer were among the responses described in the report. Boston's stronger finish separated the teams after Orlando had repeatedly reduced the margin.
A win built from several kinds of possession
The Celtics' afternoon offers a straightforward distinction between a clean shooting performance and a useful team performance. Missed early threes made the first difficult. Free throws, ball security and timely fourth-quarter plays helped produce the second.
For Orlando, the competitive stretches provide material to build on, but the comeback remained incomplete. Boston's value is more immediate: another road result and a winning streak extended through a game that required adjustments. Find more NBA coverage in Taken Social's Sports section.
