Meta description: A recent video of an unidentified metallic orb over a Middle East conflict zone has raised concerns among experts about the potential risks of unintended crossfire and the need to protect service members.

In a recent Senate hearing, the Pentagon presented footage of an unidentified metallic orb flying swiftly over a Middle East conflict zone in 2022. Dr. Sean Kirkpatrick, Director of the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), stated that it is nearly impossible to identify the object based solely on the available video.

The mysterious orb is reminiscent of the "Mosul Orb," a similar object spotted over Mosul, Iraq, in 2016. Investigative journalist and documentary filmmaker Jeremy Corbell, who was involved in the historic UAP congressional hearing in 2022, expressed concern about the potential for misidentification and unintended crossfire in active conflict zones due to the presence of such aerial anomalies.

Kirkpatrick presented an infographic during the Senate hearing, indicating that the 2022 Middle East sighting was consistent with other metallic orb observations in the region. The Pentagon is currently tracking around 650 reported sightings of unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP), the government's term for UFOs. Spherical UAPs account for 52% of all reported cases to AARO.

The increasing number of UAP reports in recent years may be attributed to the gradual reduction of stigma surrounding the subject and the government's growing efforts to address potential safety risks associated with unexplained aerial objects. Several whistleblowers and former military pilots have come forward to share their encounters with these mysterious objects.

Dr. Kirkpatrick emphasized the need for more data to be provided to AARO in order to resolve "unresolved cases." The U.S. intelligence community and the Pentagon continue to review hundreds of UAP incidents reported by military personnel as part of their ongoing efforts to identify and understand these aerial anomalies.
