Acclaimed actor Kevin Costner and his spouse, Christine Baumgartner, have declared that they are ending their marriage of more than 18 years. On Tuesday, a statement from Costner's representative, Arnold Robinson, revealed that unforeseen circumstances have led to the couple's decision to dissolve their marriage.

Robinson further asked for the couple and their children's privacy to be honored as they deal with this tough period in their lives.

Costner, best known for his role in "Dances with Wolves," married Baumgartner, a handbag designer and ex-model, in Colorado in 2004. They first encountered each other on a golf course and later rekindled their relationship at a restaurant inauguration.

The couple has three children together, while Costner has four other children from previous relationships, including his first marriage to Cindy Silva, which lasted from 1978 to 1994.

In February, following Costner's Golden Globe win for his role in "Yellowstone," he mentioned his wife in a social media post. Unable to attend the award ceremony due to flooding near their residence, they celebrated the accomplishment at home.

Costner shared his experience of watching the event remotely, admitting it was not the same. He added that Baumgartner noticed his disappointment, so she brought home around 30 balloons to lift his spirits as they watched the Golden Globes with their family, a moment they had dreamed of attending in person.
