GM Recalls 40,000 Trucks Over Fire Risk

General Motors has issued a recall for specific Chevrolet Silverado medium-duty trucks, starting with the 2019 model year, after identifying a possible brake fluid leak that could potentially cause a fire.

As many as 40,428 vehicles could be impacted by the recall. The affected models are the 4500HD, 5500HD, and 6500HD, with model years ranging from 2019 to 2023, based on information released by U.S. safety regulators on Saturday.

The issue involves a brake pressure sensor assembly in these vehicles, which may permit brake fluid to leak and create a short circuit. This consequently heightens the risk of a fire, which could happen while the vehicle is in motion or stationary.

General Motors recommends that owners of possibly affected vehicles park outside and maintain a safe distance from buildings until the necessary recall repairs are completed. The design used in vehicles with model years prior to 2019 is different and not part of the recall.
