Christina Applegate has opened up about her daily struggles and adjustments in living with multiple sclerosis (MS). In a recent conversation with Vanity Fair, the renowned actress shared that every day is a challenge since her diagnosis and revealed how it has changed her perspective on life.

Though some activities remain manageable, like driving short distances and bringing food upstairs for her daughter Sadie, Applegate has had to devise creative solutions for other tasks. For instance, she and her household created a "purgatory" spot at the top of the stairs where items can be placed for friends to bring downstairs.

Applegate further explained that she doesn't surround herself with many people, as her MS diagnosis makes her immunocompromised. She also mentioned that being in large groups is overwhelming due to the increased noise levels experienced by those with brain lesions.

To cope with these challenges, Applegate has a friend who helps care for Sadie during the week and a caretaker on weekends. The actress prefers to maintain a quiet and calm environment to avoid overstimulation of her nervous system.

Applegate publicly announced her MS diagnosis in August 2021, during the filming of the final season of the Netflix show "Dead to Me." The production was paused for five months as Applegate began treatment and learned about her new limitations. She later described the filming process as extremely difficult and revealed that it might be her last acting role.
