Chinese automaker BYD has made waves in the automotive industry with the reveal of its upcoming electric supercar, the YangWang U9. The vehicle features a hyper-active suspension system that is the first of its kind, utilizing computer-operated air and hydraulic systems that can control each corner of the car individually. The suspension system, known as the BYD DiSus, is capable of making the U9 hop off the ground and ride on just three wheels, as demonstrated in several videos released by the automaker.

The YangWang U9 is an all-electric supercar that boasts an electric powertrain capable of delivering 1,100 horsepower and accelerating the vehicle from 0 to 60 mph in just two seconds. Although BYD has not revealed how the hyper-active suspension system works, it has been touted as a groundbreaking feature that showcases the car's capabilities. The suspension system can control each corner of the vehicle individually, allowing the U9 to ride on just three wheels while keeping the corner without one from dragging on the ground. The suspension can also be used to make the U9 hop off the ground and get all four tires in the air.

The Chairman and President of BYD, Wang Chuanfu, stated that the BYD DiSus system is the first self-developed intelligent body control system launched by a Chinese automaker, marking a significant breakthrough for the company. He added that the system would further secure BYD's globally pioneering stance in the industry. The Warren Buffett-backed BYD has reportedly beaten Tesla to market with a car that can get airborne. Although Tesla CEO Elon Musk has promised that the next-generation Roadster will be offered with a rocket system that will allow it to fly a "little" in "short hops," the system has yet to be shown in action.

The YangWang U9 will be priced at around $145,000, making it a much more affordable option than other electric supercars on the market. However, there are currently no plans to export the vehicle to the US. With the reveal of the U9, BYD has once again established itself as a major player in the automotive industry, showcasing its innovative and groundbreaking technology. The company has been a leader in the development of electric vehicles, with its e6 electric taxi being used in cities around the world, and the reveal of the U9 only solidifies its position in the market. As more automakers turn their focus to electric and hybrid vehicles, it will be interesting to see what new innovations and breakthroughs will emerge in the industry.
