News, he recalled how a studio head had once suggested a new version of the film, but Elwes responded by saying that it would be a pity to damage a perfect movie. Elwes' comment garnered a positive response, including from his former co-stars, and he added that he believes the original film should not be touched.
Elwes is not the only cast member who feels this way. Robin Wright, who played Princess Buttercup, expressed her concern about a remake in a 2017 interview with E! News. Despite no plans for a new film, the cast has remained close and considers themselves a family, celebrating each other and the success of the film.
Elwes is looking forward to celebrating the upcoming 40th anniversary of the film with his former co-stars, including Mandy Patinkin and Billy Crystal.
