Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has filed a lawsuit against House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan, a Republican from Ohio, accusing him of orchestrating a "blatant attempt to threaten and assault" the district attorney and meddle in his office's case involving ex-President Donald Trump. The suit aims to prevent a subpoena requesting testimony from Mark Pomerantz, a prior high-ranking prosecutor in Bragg's office, in addition to other requests for "sensitive records and statements from the district attorney, as well as present and past employees and officials." In a statement, Bragg said, "The subpoena issued by Chairman Jordan represents an unconstitutional endeavor to sabotage an ongoing criminal prosecution and inquiry in New York. Our complaint outlines that this is an unparalleled, invalid intrusion by Congress, devoid of any legal basis and contradicting the fundamental tenets of federalism."
