Officials have confirmed that the investigation into the tragic deaths of four individuals in Bowdoin is related to the shooting that took place on Interstate 295 in Yarmouth on Tuesday. Maine State Police have responded to the incidents and are currently investigating the scenes near exits 15 and 17/East Main Street.

Upon responding to a call at a Bowdoin residence, officials discovered the lifeless bodies of four individuals. Shortly thereafter, at around 10:30 a.m., multiple vehicles were reportedly struck by gunfire on I-295 in Yarmouth.

Three people were shot while driving, with one of the victims sustaining severe injuries from the highway shooting, according to the authorities.

Maine's Total Coverage reporter Terry Stackhouse has reported from the scene, where two vehicles are visible in front of numerous police cruisers. One of the cars seems to have multiple bullet holes in the front windshield. About a dozen officers in tactical gear were observed entering the woods near the vehicles, though the exact roles of these cars in the police response remain uncertain.

A witness who spoke to WMTW said they were driving southbound when they noticed gun smoke emanating from a vehicle.

The Maine Department of Transportation has announced the closure of the southbound side of I-295. The initial closure has been extended to exit 20 in Freeport. The duration of the closure has not yet been specified by the police.
